First up is the darling Carmen! We worked on putting together this Ad Series, exchanged ideas, encouraged each other and here it is: Launching the Ad Series.

Hi everyone!  It’s Carmen here, from The Flair Exchange.  Today I’m talking about something out of my normal blogging spectrum. My dear friend Aimee here at Aimee & Co. asked me to help her with a blog series addressing BLOG ADVERTISING. I’m helping her launch this series by talking about Google Analytics. Be sure to hop over to her blog later on as there are several guest writers offering a wealth of information for monetizing your blog.

Since most readers already own a blog or website I’m going to get right down to the specifics of knowing your traffic and why it is SO important if you have intentions of monetizing your blog or simply gaining more followers.

As a business owner I look for sites to advertise on, constantly. Whether it be a sidebar ad, a giveaway, a review, a collaboration; I am always ready to jump on an advertising campaign with bloggers. Yes, I am ready and willing to hand money to YOU in exchange for publicity. Before I make an agreement with a blogger on an advertising campaign, I want to know information about the blogs traffic. I’m interested in all of those scary statistics, as they help me decide what advertising option will work best for my business and yours.

As a blogger, having access to current and previous website traffic is very important for expanding your blog. While there are several routes for establishing your traffic data, Google Analytics is a must. The process for setting it up may be a tad tricky for some, so let someone experienced do it for you. Once those gorgeous statistics begin to stack up, you may consult an internet marketing specialist to help you make decisions about your blog and the direction you’d like to see it go.

On the flip side…

As a business owner, gaining insight to a blog’s traffic is essential. Most established bloggers are prepared for your request of stats and eagerly provide data to persuade you in advertising with them. When reviewing blog traffic, take into consideration readership/fanship demographics, as they may or may not work in your favor. It is important to make sure you are working with bloggers that suit your niche and not bloggers that just have the highest stats!

If you take anything away from this article, make sure you’ve got Google Analytics installed for your site.
